Safety Tips

Maresdi connects buyers and sellers — but we do not inspect items, hold money, or mediate disputes. Your safety is your responsibility. These tips will help you transact safely.

Maresdi will NEVER ask you to pay a fee to receive money, release funds, or verify your account. Any such request is a scam.
🤝

Meet in a public place

Always meet the buyer or seller in a busy, well-lit public location — a shopping centre, petrol station, or bank. Never invite strangers to your home or go to theirs alone.

💸

Never pay before you inspect

Inspect the item in person before handing over any money. Scammers often ask for deposits or full payment before the buyer sees the item. Walk away if a seller refuses to show you the item first.

📱

Be cautious of deals that seem too good

If a price is dramatically below market value, it is likely a scam. Common scams include fake iPhone listings, "overseas sellers" who need shipping fees, and fake EFT confirmations.

🏦

Verify EFT payments yourself

Do not accept a screenshot of a payment as proof. Log into your own bank app to confirm funds have cleared before releasing an item. Fraudulent payment screenshots are common.

🔒

Protect your personal information

Never share your ID number, bank account details, PIN, or password with a buyer or seller. Maresdi will never ask for this information either.

👥

Bring someone with you

When meeting a stranger for a transaction, especially for high-value items, bring a friend or family member. Let someone know where you are going.

📋

Trust your instincts

If something feels wrong — pressure to close quickly, reluctance to meet in person, too-perfect photos, or evasive answers — trust your gut and walk away.

🚨

Report suspicious listings

If you see a listing that looks like a scam, report it to us immediately via WhatsApp or email. We investigate and remove fraudulent listings within 24 hours.
