1. Who We Are

Maresdi is an online classifieds platform operated in Namibia. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our website at maresdi.vercel.app (or our custom domain once registered).

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: name, email address, phone number, and password (stored as a secure hash).
  • Listing information: titles, descriptions, prices, photos, and location data you provide when posting.
  • Shop information: business name, description, address, BIPA number, and logo (paid tier accounts only).
  • Usage data: pages visited, listing views, search queries, and device/browser information.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate and maintain your account.
  • To display your listings to other users.
  • To send account-related notifications (listing approved, expiring soon, etc.).
  • To improve the Platform and understand how it is used.
  • To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising purposes on behalf of external parties.

4. Information Visible to Other Users

When you post a listing, the following is visible to the public: your display name, listing details, photos, location (region/town), and any WhatsApp number you choose to add. Your email address and password are never shared or displayed publicly.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Platform:

  • Supabase (PostgreSQL) — database storage, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt).
  • Cloudinary — image hosting and storage.
  • Vercel — web hosting and deployment.

Each provider has their own privacy policy. We have selected providers with strong data protection practices.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Deleted listings are soft-deleted and may be retained in our database for up to 90 days before permanent removal. You may request deletion of your account and data by contacting us.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data via your Profile Settings page.
  • Request deletion of your account and personal data.
  • Object to how we process your data.

8. Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this will prevent you from logging in.

9. Children

Maresdi is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
